DJ Karn Hall will be in action at the Hauraki School Electric Picnic.

General Events   

Electric Picnic

Get ready for an afternoon of music, food, sports, activities and more at the Hauraki primary school Electric Picnic. A licensed bar, DJ and quick-fire auction with great prizes up for grabs will also be on offer for attendees to enjoy. Tickets $10 here (link), door sales $20, entry for under 18s is free. All of the proceeds raised go to Hauraki Primary School projects including the new school pool.

Autumn Craft Market 

Celebrate the beginning of autumn at the Devonport Markets this Saturday, with the ferry terminal transforming into a haven for all things handmade, delicious, and delightful.

When: Saturday, 9am-2pm. 

Where: Victoria Wharf and inside the Devonport Ferry Terminal. 

 

Noughty Wasters Makerspace Session

Test your creativity this Saturday by making things out of items that would otherwise be destined for landfill. A variety of tools will be available for participants to use. Suitable for all ages, but children under three will require close supervision. 

When: Saturday, 10am-12pm. 

Where: Resource Recovery Devonport, 27 Lake Rd.

 

Food-truck night

Enjoy a wide array of culinary experiences from the food trucks at Woodall Park this Saturday. A variety of dinner options will be available along with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks from the pop-up bar. 

When: Saturday, 4pm onwards.

Gallery Exhibitions 

Nunuku’s Light

An exhibition of works by Miriam Cameron, inspired by the story of pacifist Moriori chief Nunuku-whenua and Cameron’s trip to the Chatham Islands, features expressionist paintings that reflect the chief’s ideas, values and way of life. 

When: Saturday and Sunday.

Commemorating Tūhoe Prophet Rua Kenana: A Man for Our Times

This exhibition honours leader, faith healer and land rights activist Rua Kenana (1869–1937). It features a 20-metre-long 10-panel mural by Tony Johnston based on Kenana’s life. The work was completed in 1981 and hung in the Manukau City Council Chambers, but was put into storage when the council was among those merged into Auckland Council. Recently located, it is being exhibited with related works by other artists.

When: Saturday and Sunday.

The Depot Artspace

New Principles is a collection of contemporary furniture from emerging and established artists based in Auckland. The exhibition includes the work of six artists who present furniture not as accessories to a room, but as a highlight.  

When: Saturday, 10am-4pm.

Music & Entertainment 

Tainui Tuesdays at Devonport Yacht Club

Six-piece Tainui Tuesdays promise a set-list of classics ranging from Kiwi favourites to the Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen – plus a bracket of French numbers. Tickets are $20 at the door.
