General Events   

Party at the pump track 

The party is set for this Sunday after its postponement two weekends ago. Enjoy a barbecue and drinks, watch pro riders take on the track and, if you’re 14 years old or younger, have a go yourself at the Woodall Park pump track this Sunday. All under-14 riders need to sign in by 1pm. Pro riders from 4pm. Free event. 

When: Sunday, 12pm-sunset.

Mother’s Day Market

Searching for a way to show Mum how much you care? Look no further than Saturday’s Devonport Mother’s Day Market for unique finds and special treats. Browse through stalls with plenty of options, whatever you might have planned for Mother’s Day on 12 May. 

When: Saturday, 9am-2pm. 

Where: Victoria Wharf and inside the Devonport Ferry Terminal.  

 

The Trials of Nurse Kerr book launch 

Scott Bainbridge launches his new true-crime book about Nurse Kerr of 1930s Devonport, who may have been New Zealand’s most prolific poisoner. Just how many unlucky victims were there?

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum 

Visit the Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay, with its extensive collection of photos, artefacts, medals and more, for a look into New Zealand’s maritime history. 

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm.

Devonport Museum

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historIcal photographs.

Music & Entertainment 

Friday Night Open Mic

Come to the Harmony Hall tonight to hear talented local singers or give it a go yourself. Bring a plate and BYO.

Tainui Tuesdays at Devonport Yacht Club

Six-piece Tainui Tuesdays promise a set-list of classics ranging from Kiwi favourites to the Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen – plus a bracket of French numbers. Tickets are $20 at the door.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show with H&F Shadowcast (M)

Star Wars (PG/M) Movie Marathon

North Shore takes on a pointless Franklin United at Allen Hill this Saturday.

Gallery Exhibitions 

The Depot Artspace

New Principles is a collection of contemporary furniture from emerging and established artists based in Auckland. The exhibition includes the work of six artists who present furniture not as accessories to a room, but as a highlight.

Light into Dark

This exhibition features the work of 10 artists, including Ralph Hotere’s Song of Solomon, a collage piece made in response to the Gulf War. Two works from Devonport sculptor Helen Pollock will also be shown at the exhibition, which promotes messages of peace.
