Village Song at Devonport Library 

Benjamin the library cat is all dressed up in anticipation of Village Song’s performance of festive songs at Devonport Library this Sunday. Get in the Christmas spirit and enjoy the Devonport community choir’s rendition of some holiday classics.

When: Sunday, 2pm.

Rose Singers – Christmas Carols & Crackers 

The harmonious Rose Singers present a selection of cherished seasonal favourites, and some new gems too. A free event. Doors open at 5pm, with nibbles available, before carols start at 6pm. Register here as only limited spaces are available.

Flamenco Christmas Fiesta 

Enjoy an evening of live flamenco guitar, violin, castanets, song and dance in the spirit of Christmas. Make sure to dress up, as prizes for the best Spanish dress will be given out on the night. Doors open at 7.15pm. It’s a BYO event, with a small koha for tea and coffee. Tickets $25 here

The Kestrel

Kestrel staff member Finn Bartlett will swap the apron for the acoustic guitar when he plays funky upbeat covers tonight.

Whatever vibe you’re looking for this Sunday, Damian Hauwai is set to provide with his acoustic, live-looped set covering everything from rock to jazz.

The Patriot

Country/pop singer-songwriter Ellie Redmond brings her feel-good tunes to the Patriot tonight.

Tiny Triumphs

Punk-rock band Boneshakers promise heavy riffs, high tempo drums and a good time for all.

Wish family fun day preview

The Vic invites you for a preview screening of Disney’s all-new musical-comedy Wish this Sunday. Your ticket puts you in the draw to win Wish-themed prizes. Look out for the cinema’s special star-cookie choc tops.

North Shore Cricket Club 

North Shore’s top team takes on East Coast Bays in their first one day match at home this season.

Gallery Exhibitions 

The Depot Artspace

Two exhibitions: 

Final Resting Place features sculptural figures that invite you to look into their illuminated openings, revealing hidden realms inside. Inspired by the cycles of birth, daughterhood, and home, ceramic artist Yeonjae Choi explores exterior forms and interior space, turning each sculpture into a multi-dimensional experience. 

When: Opening, Saturday 2-4pm.

Proof of Concept marks the halfway point in a two year journey for the 11 participants in HANDSHAKE 8, a professional development programme for contemporary jewellers. The exhibition is an invitation to see ideas, processes, materials still in development, and to help shape their future form.

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum

Visit the Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay for a look into New Zealand’s maritime history. Children can use their detective skills to track down objects on a new museum trail of hidden artefacts.

Devonport Museum

Devonport Museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history. See its memorabilia of Devonport schools, transport, early settlers and families, along with Devonport Borough Council scrapbooks and a historic photograph collection.
