General Events  

Colour Dash 

Head to the Ngataringa sports fields in a white t-shirt for the colour dash this Sunday. Participants in the inclusive event complete 1-5kms, during which they are covered in a spectrum of colours. A carnival after the dash promises music, dancing, photo opportunities, activity booths, and vendor stalls. White t-shirts are available to purchase on the day. The accessible course suited to pushing a pram, using mobility aids, or simply walking. More info and tickets here.

Tiny Dancers Dance Party  

A free party for tiny dancers aged 18 months to six years old. Current, past and future Devonport School of Dance dancers are welcome. Come along with your friends for a morning full of dance, face painting, candy floss, ballerinas, and the chance to win a free term of a dance class. 

When: Sunday, 9.30-11am.

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum 

Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history.  

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm. 

Where: 64 King Edward Pde.

 

Devonport Museum

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

When: Saturday and Sunday, 2-4pm.

Music & Entertainment       

Beethoven Quartets at Holy Trinity tonight

Led by concertmaster Andrew Beer, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s string section principals present Beethoven’s String Quartet No.6 and String Quartet No.10, two masterpieces showcasing contrasting periods in Beethoven’s development as a composer, tonight. Tickets here.

Hard Truths (M) Advance screenings 

Mike Leigh’s film about the challenges of loving those we call family. Pansy is a woman wracked by fear and prone to raging tirades against anyone, including her husband and son. Her younger sister is an easygoing single mother with a life as different from Pansy’s as their clashing temperaments. Tickets and times here

The RVMES at Tiny Triumphs

Alt-rock band the RVMES bring their big sound experimenting with funk, rock and soul to the Clarence St bar this Saturday for a release party of their new single Around The Corner, and farewell for guitarist Richard (Dick) Moore. Devonport indie-rock band Thinking Foxes and DJ Mojo Smooth also perform. Tickets here

Friday Night Open Mic

Unseen World at Satellite2 Gallery
