Compost-Turning with Ngataringa Organic Garden
The Ngataringa Organic Garden Compost group will turn a five-bin batch of compost, started off a month ago, at its inaugural compost-turning event. Bring snacks and beverages to share. Gloves recommended. All welcome.

Coastal Clean-Up Walk
Join Restoring Takarunga Hauraki and Pupuke Birdsong Project for a coastal clean-up walk from Narrow Neck to Takapuna. Walking along the coast at low tide, pick up rubbish along the way and learn about the local environment. Reserve a space and find out more here.

Devonport Navy Museum
Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. View albums from the museum’s extensive photographic collections from World War I onwards, as part of the What a Life exhibition on display in the Foyer Gallery.

Exhibition Opening at Satellite2
Artist Holly Sanford is exploring a new creative path in her exhibition Revealed: Beyond the Glass Horizon. Having spent more than 40 years working in stained glass, she has swapped glass for paper, and paints with serendipity, enjoying the freedom of expression the new medium gives her.

Exhibition Opening and Performance at Depot Artspace
Joanna Cook and Steve Lovett’s (il)legible inkscription opens with an imprinting as the artists press text onto one another’s bodies. Their exhibition explores language as a palimpsest on bodies, transforming text across mobile, malleable surfaces – merging print and choreography.

Peter Knowles: In Plein Sight
Final weekend! At age 73, Devonport’s Peter Knowles picked up his paintbrushes again for the first time in four decades, and set about depicting the people he knew and the place he loves. His first exhibition comprises more than 30 works.

Eva at the Rose Centre Art Spot
Each month, the Rose Centre Art Spot highlights the work of a different local artist. During March, former Takapuna Grammar student Eva exhibits her still-life paintings of flowers, using gouache paint and pencil to explore colour, texture and detail.

North Shore Cricket Club
The premier men are on the verge of winning promotion, having declared at 254/8 on the first day of their match against Kumeu last weekend. The hosts were at 51/2. Victory will put Shore in the box seat to win the second-tier title. The second-day action continues at Huapai Domain on Saturday. The premier women take on Takapuna at Onewa Domain. Both fixtures start at 11am.
In home action, the premier reserves begin the second day at 50/1 in their second innings against Ellerslie, who declared at 134/9 last weekend after Shore were all out for 108.
