General Events 

Devonport Spring Clean — Volunteers Needed

Spring is in the air and the village green spaces and shared gardens are in line for a zhuzh-up! Come along and lend a helping hand with replanting and refreshing the planter barrels, and mulching and tidying. If you’d like to pitch in, email Tabitha of the Devonport Business Association: manager@devonport.co.nz. Bring gloves, and a favourite gardening tool (if you have one).

Nature Photography Workshop on Maungauika

Kathryn Nobbs is running a nature-photography workshop for anyone with interest and a camera (be that a fancy camera or simply a smartphone). Koha welcome. Spaces are limited. Register here.

Stream Restoration at Bardia Reserve

Join Restoring Takarunga Hauraki and neighbours for a stream clean-up. Learn how to test water quality and maintain native plantings. Afternoon tea provided. Register here.

Hundreds of quality toys to try out or borrow, for kids aged up to six years old.

Devonport Navy Museum 

Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. The Tides of Change exhibition, part of the 2025 Auckland Festival of Photography, is displayed in the atrium. Instrumental to Defence, the history of the Royal New Zealand Navy Band, is on display in the Foyer Gallery.

Devonport Museum

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

Music & Entertainment

On at The Vic This Weekend

Potluck. A revolving cast from The Mischief Company presents a second season of live improvised comedy. A show in which three couples share a potluck dinner and no one  — including the actors — knows what scandals will be revealed. See the 6 June Flagstaff for more information. Tickets here.

Fatal Watch. Four marine observers vanish at sea under suspicious circumstances. This gripping investigation uncovers why, revealing the dark underbelly of the global tuna trade. Tickets here.

Jaws — 50th anniversary re-release. Final weekend of select screenings!  Fifty years ago, terror swam onto the silver screen in the shape of Jaws, Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking thriller. When a gigantic great-white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, marine scientist and fisherman set out to stop it. Tickets and times here.

Bad Guys 2  Advance screenings. Everyone’s favourite felons are back, forced out of retirement by an all-female squad of criminals, to do “one last job”. Tickets and times here.

Kangaroo  Advance screenings. When a former TV personality becomes stranded in a remote outback town, he befriends an indigenous girl, Charlie. The unlikely pair team up to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joey kangaroos, a life-changing endeavour for them both. Tickets here.

Friday Night Live at Harmony Hall

Peter Pan: Youth Drama at The Rose Centre

Tangihanga at The Rose Centre

Tangihanga, performed by Kristyl Neho, follows a devoted daughter navigating her father’s death and family dynamics, as whanau and friends gather at a marae to mourn. Neho embodies 32 characters in this drama-comedy, which explores the intricacies of whanau relationships, identity, cultural traditions and the importance of family and community in times of loss. Te Reo O Te Taiao at Satellite2

Te Reo O Te Taiao | The Voice of the Natural World is a group exhibition by four local Māori artists. They have combined creative forces to highlight the power, beauty and vulnerability of the environment, with the goal of inspiring the community to act as kaitiaki. Benediction: Piet Tuinder at DEPOT Lounge

As a first-generation Kiwi of a Dutch immigrant family, artist Piet Tuinder’s works reflect the cultural identity and sense of spiritual connection he has found both here and in the Netherlands. His framed motifs and symbols evolved from the serenity of Dutch churches,  while accompanying sculptures connect to the birds of Aotearoa.

The Boundary of the Intelligible at DEPOT Artspace
