Devonport Christmas Festival
A bumper weekend of family fun at Windsor Reserve! Read the story in the 5 December Flagstaff.
Jingle in the Park
Local artists and talent, MCed by Toni Street and Sam Wallace. Headline act: Shane Cortese & the 8-Track Band.

Santa Parade
Watch the colourful floats travel a clockwise loop starting out from Marine Square, up Wynyard Street, through the New World car park, along Fleet St, and down Victoria Rd.
When: Sunday, 11am.
Dance in the Park
The festive fun continues on stage with The Nativity Story, a fun, Kiwiana-inspired music and dance performance. Featuring local talent, music, dance, audience participation and singalongs. Off stage are Santa’s Grotto and a craft market.
When: Sunday, 11.30am–2.30pm.
Depot Day Out: Open Day
Lots of fun and exciting things on offer for adults and children, with special events throughout the day. At Depot 3 Vic Road, resident artists are selling handmade goods as part of Open Studios. Christmas-themed ornament-painting is on offer at the Ceramics Studio. Depot’s creative team is hosting their very own exhibition at At Depot Artspace. This is followed in the evening by a live gig with folk band Hoop.

Bayswater Markets and Moonlight Cinema
Vendors, fresh produce, Xmas gifts and more at the Bayswater markets. Featuring live music and a bouncy castle for the kids. Followed by the Moonlight Cinema screening of the family festive favourite Home Alone 2. First in, first served for space. Food trucks available. Bring your own seating and blankets.
When: markets 8am–2pm; Moonlight Cinema, from 5pm, with the screening starting at around 8.15pm.

Devonport Ethical Christmas Market
A market full of ethically crafted gifts, clothing, jewellery, toys, accessories and homewares. Sold to support social enterprises helping the poor and marginalised.

Devonport Fine Food and Beverage Market
Fresh flavours, artisan treats and festive inspiration galore. Come along to explore, taste something new and chat with the vendors.

The Wonderful World of Tiger Worms
A fun, hands-on worm-farming workshop for kids aged 5-10. Dive into the fascinating world of tiger worms and discover how these tiny composting heroes turn food scraps into fertiliser for your plants. DIY Bokashi and Composting Workshop
Sarah Williams, a Compost Collective facilitator at Ngataringa Organic Garden Society, will guide you through how the Bokashi composting system works, how to make a bin yourself and how to turn your food scraps into compost for your garden. She will also share tips on how to reduce food waste at home and run through the basics of worm-farming and traditional composting. Free of charge. More information and registration here.

Toy Library at Devonport Community House
Hundreds of quality toys to try out or borrow, for kids aged up to six years old.

Devonport Navy Museum
Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. The Tides of Change exhibition, part of the 2025 Auckland Festival of Photography, is displayed in the atrium. Instrumental to Defence, the history of the Royal New Zealand Navy Band, is on display in the Foyer Gallery.

Devonport Museum
The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

The Rose Singers: White Christmas

Hoop EP Release Show at Depot Artspace
Celebrate the release of indie folk band Hoop’s latest EP, Wrap Me Up in Winter. The album combines the songwriting talents of Devonport local Nick Edgar (The Wonderfish Collective, Helium Project) and Al Baxter (Ministry of Folk, The Mollymawks). Notes From a Fish — Special Screening Followed by Q&A
An aspiring novelist on the verge of a breakthrough loses his muse, a tropical fish rumoured to hold mysterious powers. This sends him and an unstable fisheries officer on bizarre misadventures to recover the fish. A “cosmic-comedy odyssey”. Q&A after the film, with two of the co-stars, Romy Hooper and Emilio Mancilla. Tickets here.

An Immersive Art Experience at the Time Capsule Gallery
Be part of a special art experience. Watch artist Sarah Jane Smith create her latest painting, observing the smallest movements and delicate brushstrokes that go into creating an artwork. A warm welcome and refreshments are included.

Staff Exhibition 2025 Opens at Depot Lounge

The Moon Looked at Me Funny: Depot Artspace
Faces, bodies, and strange creatures emerge from fabric in Sarah Cowie’s exhibition The Moon Looked at Me Funny. The artist uses puppetry and fabric sculpture with digital photography and videography to activate puppet creatures inhabiting lush fabric worlds.

Time Well Spent: at Depot 3 Vic Road
Belmont artist Anna Victoria uses software tool PowerPoint to painstakingly recreate the facades of local buildings and landmarks as graphic depictions, inviting us to reflect on the memories and stories these places hold. Read the story in the 21 November Flagstaff.

Uncorked at Satellite2
Final weekend! This is the first solo show for Takapuna artist Nikki Kelly. Her paintings begin on the canvas as abstract bursts of colour, and are then punctuated by familiar subjects and figurative shapes, applied with rollers, scrapers and sponges. Read the story in the 21 November Flagstaff.

North Shore Cricket Club
In round three of the Jeff Crowe one-day premier men’s competition, Shore are at home to Auckland University Cricket Club, having won their match against Hibiscus Coast last weekend by 65 runs. The premier women are playing two rounds this weekend: at home to Parnell on Saturday, and away to Suburbs New Lynn on Sunday.

Santa Paws Photo Day
Santa made a friendly bet with his elves that he could get more photos with dogs than ever before… If your dog wants to capture the moment with the man of the season, they can jump in alone with Santa, or drag the family along for a festive snap. As well as the photo sessions, there will be a sausage sizzle running, a park for the kids and Christmas tunes playing.
