North Shore Rugby Club

It’s quarter-finals time for Shore’s men’s premiers, reserves and under-21s this weekend. All topped their tables in pool play, so will have home matches at Vauxhall Rd. Kicking off at 1pm are the reserves (playing against Mahurangi) and under-21s (against Takapuna). The premiers take on Mahurangi at 2.45pm.

Meanwhile, in pool play, the under-85kg Shore side faces Glenfield, away from home.

North Shore United AFC

Last weekend’s 3-1 victory against Cambridge makes it two away wins in a row. Can North Shore make it a three-peat on the road this Saturday, when they take on second-placed Hamilton?

 

Friendly Fridays at Stanley Bay Petanque Club

An opportunity for club members and guests to play petanque and enjoy a social catch-up with friends and the local community. All welcome.

Potluck is a live improvised-comedy in which three couples share a potluck dinner and no one knows what scandals will be revealed — even the actors! The Vic: A Love Story is a short film charting the fascinating history of the Victoria Theatre, the oldest purpose-built cinema in the Southern Hemisphere. Select film screenings are part of the fundraising campaign to raise money for new seats for the cinema. More information and tickets here.

Dazzle Fish for the Kids at Devonport Navy Museum

Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. During the school holidays, kids can take part in the Dazzle Fish holiday activity, hunting for fish around the museum and designing their own fish scale. See here for more information.

Devonport Museum

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

Volcanic Vinyl Pop-Up Record Store

New and used LPs for sale across most genres including funk, soul, punk, blues, rock, electronica, metal, reggae and hip hop, all in the convivial surroundings of Tiny Triumphs.

Mahjong at the Devonport Community House

Ruaruawhetū Exhibition and Guest Curator Kōrero at Depot Artspace

Ruaruawhetū – Weaving Design Celebrating the Stars features the individual and collectively-produced raranga (weaving) works of 17 artists, inspired by the nine stars of Matariki. See story in the 20 June Flagstaff and more information here.

Suture Collective: Liminal at DEPOT 3 Vic Road

Artists Holly Clarke, Vanessa Narbey and Bridget Pahl bring a female perspective in their exhibition Liminal, reflecting on how visual space, nature and the tactility of paint come together to convey meaning. Their works highlight the interconnectedness of nature and self, be it through observance, intuition or other sensory elements. See here for more information.

Framing Devonport at Satellite2

Framing Devonport explores Devonport’s heritage buildings, showing old homes in a new light. The works have been produced by Paola King-Borrero and Paul Chapman, whose artistic collaboration on this project came about through Covid lockdown walks in the neighbourhood.
