Shore Smash 

Players past and present compete in the inaugural Shore Smash 20/20 cricket game as North Shore Rugby takes on North Shore Cricket. The event kicks off with a Junior Family Day, from 10.30am. Meals and bar available from 12pm. The match starts at 3pm.

North Shore Rugby Club

The Under-21s launch their campaign at home against Northcote, another of the top-rated teams in the Colts competition.

North Shore United AFC

North Shore United plays Hibiscus Coast at home this weekend in the third match of their Northern Championship season. They beat Cambridge FC 2–0 last weekend.

When: Saturday, 3pm.

Friendly Fridays at Stanley Bay Petanque Club

An opportunity for club members and guests to play petanque and enjoy a social catch-up with friends and the local community. All welcome.

When: play 4-6pm, bar opens from 5.30pm.

Shore to Shore Fun Run & Walk

A picturesque 5.9km coastal course, starting at Takapuna Grammar, following Lake Road, Takapuna Beach, and Milford Beach, then finishing at Milford Reserve.

This is a fundraising event to support local schools. Plenty of awesome costumes and spot prizes. All welcome. Register here.

When: Sunday, race start at 9am.

General Events  

The Hauraki Electric Picnic

A fun-filled afternoon of music, food, obstacle courses, sports, activities, bouncy castles, a quick-fire auction and more at the Hauraki School Electric Picnic fundraiser. Bring along picnic blankets, umbrellas and gazebos and soak up the fun. A licensed bar will be open on-site (no BYO). Everyone from the community can attend.

Free entry for kids aged 17 and under. Tickets for adults (18 +) are $10 in advance here and $20 on the door. For more information, email info@highlife.co.nz.

Easter Market

Arts and crafts, music, and food are on offer at tomorrow’s market, with local artisans showcasing handmade goods. Enjoy live entertainment and savour seasonal delights.

Volcanic Vinyl

Add some records to your collection at the Volcanic Vinyl sale at Tiny Triumphs. A selection of new and second-hand vinyl from a range of genres including funk, soul, punk, blues, rock, electronica, metal, reggae and hip-hop.

Mahjong at the Devonport Community House

Head to the community house to play some casual games of mahjong. Email maddy@devonportcomhouse.co.nz to join the WhatsApp group chat to ensure you have a seat at the table. No tutor present. Koha on entry.

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum

Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history.

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

Speakeasy Exiles

Rock the rain away on Saturday night, with local covers band Speakeasy Exiles!

Out of Order at the Rose Centre

Fast-paced comedy Out of Order revolves around a government minister whose plan to spend an evening at a hotel with an opposition secretary starts to go disastrously wrong. Tickets and times here.

Self-Care for Aliens at DEPOT Artspace

Natasha Munro Hurn and Ezra Munro’s exhibition involves fantastical self-portraits made from digital collages. Various experimental screen prints utilise makeup in an exhibition reflecting “the radical queer spirit finding a home in an organic vessel”.

Raewyn Turner’s works relating to the sense of smell are interactive, electronic and sculptural.

Rose Centre Art Spot 

The pieces on display this month are from Steve Bolton’s Tree Portrait series, all oil on board. Bolton is a Devonport-based painter, cartoonist, illustrator, printmaker, muralist and teacher.
