General Events

Devonport Christmas Festival 

The Santa Parade returns for another festive season. See Father Christmas make his way from Clarence St, down Victoria Rd to Windsor Reserve. Devonport Market (operating at the ferry terminal and the reserve) will have an array of potential gifts for sale, music will play and food stalls will provide a range of tempting options. The parade starts from Clarence St at 11am.

When: Sunday, 11am-3pm. Market starts at 9am.

Where: Windsor Reserve. 

 

William Sanders Market Day 

The Ryman retirement village is putting on a market this Saturday, with crafts, cakes, sweets, preserves and plants on offer, along with fun activities for children. 

When: Saturday, 10am-1pm. 

Where: 7 Ngataringa Rd. 

 

Volcanic Vinyl 

Add some records to your collection at the Volcanic Vinyl sale at Tiny Triumphs. A selection of new and second-hand vinyl from a range of genres including funk, soul, punk, blues, rock, electronica, metal, reggae and hip-hop. 

When: Saturday, 2-5pm.

Food-truck night

Enjoy a wide array of culinary experiences from the food trucks at Woodall Park this Saturday.

Ethical Christmas Market 

The ethical Christmas market returns this Sunday with goods made in an ethical way, including homewares, artisan gifts, organic wine and much more. 

When: Sunday, 10am-3pm. 

Where: Devonport Community House, 32 Clarence St.

 

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum 

Visit the Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay to see Over Seas – Mā te Moana, an exhibition of objects brought home by Royal New Zealand Navy sailors during overseas deployments all around the world. 

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm. 

Where: 64 King Edward Pde.

 

Devonport Museum

The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

When: Saturday and Sunday, 12-4pm.

Music & Entertainment      

Friday Night Open Mic

Come to Harmony Hall tonight to hear talented local singers and maybe give it a go yourself. Bring a plate and BYO.

Summer Nights 2

Five young bands from across the North Island are coming to the Community House for a gig on Saturday Night. Whether you like indie, reggae or classic rock the lineup of Revér, Joone, The Rues, Katie-Lee, and The Usuals will have you covered. People aged 14 years and younger will need to be supervised. Tickets $13.50 here.

Joni Mitchell Tribute Concert With Jan Elliott

Dive into the music of Joni Mitchell when Jan Elliott takes the stage at Harmony Hall this Saturday. Elliott has been performing Joni Mitchell songs since she first picked up a guitar at age 17 and played her first tribute show in November 2022. Tickets available here.

Sheila’s Island at the Rose Centre

Four hapless middle-aged, middle-class, middle-management businesswomen are shipwrecked on an island in the UK’s Lake District in this black comedy at the Rose Centre. For more information on the show, see the 15 November Devonport Flagstaff. Tickets available here.

Kurosawa Season: Yojimbo (1961)

To rid a terror-stricken village of corruption, a wily masterless samurai turns a war between two evil clans to his own advantage. Visually stunning and darkly comic, Yojimbo is regarded as one of Akira Kurosawa’s best films.
