Open Studios: Alchemy
Meet eight resident artists and explore their creative spaces. Alchemy, their latest exhibition in a themed series, focuses on the transformation of artists’ media and materials, such as metal, clay and dyes. Read the story in the 14 August Flagstaff.

Paintress: Depot Artspace
Jessica Pearless brings together colour, form and movement in the exhibition Paintress, which comprises 15 garments and around 20 paintings, as well as works by Takapuna Grammar textile students. It explores relationships between body, material and the creative process. A programme of events accompanies the exhibition, creating opportunities to encounter abstract art through multiple perspectives. Read the story in the 14 August Flagstaff.

Linger: Depot 3 Vic Road
Set within rich, dreamlike landscapes, artist Laurette Looker portrays women who are fully in the moment, unhurried and indifferent to a world that rarely stops. Layered instinctively in bold colour they cherish the quiet and invite you to linger.

Wrong Track: Satellite2
Final weekend! Artist Grant Alexander explores the issues of fast-tracking and artificial intelligence (AI) in his latest exhibition of 22 new works. He asks if fast-tracking has put Aotearoa on the ‘wrong track’ and questions the resources required to fuel AI. Read the story in the 14 August Flagstaff.

The Infinity Series – Xeduce
Final weekend! Drawing inspiration from baroque and rococo art and architecture, Renaissance-inspired opulence combines with futuristic design in this exhibition of wearable art.

The Rose Centre Art Spot
For the last month of Matariki, artworks by Breana-Ann Kaponga are on display. Each of the nine whetū (stars) of the Matariki cluster is depicted as a native manu (bird).

A Posse of Poets
Celebrate National Poetry Day with a posse of local poets and others doing readings and sharing their enjoyment of poetry. The recent passing of Riemke Ensing will also be recognised, with a reading of their work by Deborah Shepard. Wine and nibbles available. Koha appreciated. All welcome. Vegan Living: Public Talk

A weekly community workshop, offering help with bike maintenance. Whether your bike needs a puncture repaired, brakes adjusted, gears tuned, or you’d simply like to learn some basic maintenance, come along. Prophetiae Sibyllarum: Choral Music Concert
The Tudor Consort choral group presents Orlande de Lassus’ Prophetiae Sibyllarum, a sixteenth-century work featuring highly chromatic chord progressions for greater emotive and expressive effect. The programme includes other Tudor works, as well as Ross Harris’ Vobiscum in aeternam, which was written for The Tudor Consort in 2011. More information and tickets here.

North Shore United Football Club
In the Northern Region Football League competition, North Shore seniors and under-23s have home fixtures against Onehunga Mangere this Saturday, in their final rounds of competition.
In the community football leagues, local action in the men’s competition takes place on Saturdays and the women play on Sundays.
The First Team Women have an away fixture against Birkenhead. North Shore share the lead at the top of the Division 1 table with two other teams, but have a game in hand.
