Matariki Devonport
Tangihanga at The Rose Centre
Tangihanga, performed by Kristyl Neho, follows a devoted daughter navigating her father’s death and family dynamics, as whanau and friends gather at a marae to mourn. Neho embodies 32 characters in this drama-comedy, which explores the intricacies of whanau relationships, identity, cultural traditions and the importance of family and community in times of loss. Matariki Market Day at the Rose Centre
Kai and food trucks, crafts, art, streetwear, waiata, raranga and more. Bring your whanau and support local.

Bayswater School’s Matariki Designs at the Rose Centre Art Spot
Each year, Bayswater School students compete to have their design printed on the school’s Matariki Festival merchandise. Six-year-old Valentino Tai-Lui created the winning design for 2025. The illustrations from competition winners and runners-up for 2021–2025 have been reproduced and are showcased in the Rose Centre’s Art Spot for June.

Ruaruawhetū Weaving Exhibition at DEPOT Artspace
Ruaruawhetū – Weaving Design Celebrating the Stars features the individual and collectively-produced raranga (weaving) works of 17 artists, inspired by the nine stars of Matariki. During the exhibition, the artists will share their knowledge through artists’ and curator’s kōrero (talks) and a series of weaving workshops. Weekend Smorgasboard Served up at The Vic
Potluck is a live improvised-comedy soap opera in which three couples share a potluck dinner and no one knows what scandals will be revealed. A revolving cast of improvisors (from The Mischief Company) serve up relationship morsels, and tales of love and loss. See the 6 June Flagstaff for more information. See here for tickets.

The Vic: A Love Story is a short film charting the fascinating history of the Victoria Theatre, the oldest purpose-built cinema in the Southern Hemisphere. Sport
North Shore Rugby Club
Last Friday, the premier and reserve men’s teams both got the job done at home, beating East Coast Bays sides 47-12 and 38-16 respectively. This weekend, they’re back to Saturday duties and are on the road, playing against Silverdale. Meanwhile, the under-21 men, table leaders, take on second-placed Massey at Moire Park. Shore’s only home fixture is for the under-85kg side, who face Northcote.

North Shore United AFC
Last weekend, North Shore enjoyed a 2-1 away win against Ngaruawahia Utd. This takes Shore to sixth-equal on the league table. On Saturday, they are on the road again, this week playing Cambridge FC.
Friendly Fridays at Stanley Bay Petanque Club
An opportunity for club members and guests to play petanque and enjoy a social catch-up with friends and the local community. All welcome.

Suture Collective: Liminal at DEPOT 3 Vic Road
Artists Holly Clarke, Vanessa Narbey and Bridget Pahl bring a female perspective in their exhibition Liminal, reflecting on how visual space, nature and the tactility of paint come together to convey meaning. Their works highlight the interconnectedness of nature and self, be it through observance, intuition or other sensory elements. See here for more information.

Framing Devonport at Satellite2
Framing Devonport explores Devonport’s heritage buildings, showing old homes in a new light. The works have been produced by Paola King-Borrero and Paul Chapman, whose artistic collaboration on this project came about through Covid lockdown walks in the neighbourhood.
