Neil Simon’s Rumours

As guests arrive at the 10th wedding-anniversary party of the deputy mayor of New York, they aren’t welcomed with food and drink but a sticky scenario – the host has shot himself in the earlobe, the kitchen staff are nowhere to be found, and his wife is missing. As more guests arrive, more drama and laughs unfold. This weekend is your last chance to see the play. Tickets available here.

Callas – Paris, 1958 at the Vic Theatre

Restored in HD and available for the first time entirely in colour, this is an opportunity to experience an acclaimed performance by Maria Callas at the sumptuous Paris Opéra, as never before. Tickets available here.

Trolls Band Together previews 

The Vic has special preview screenings of Trolls Band Together, the third installment in the series of animated movies, following Branch and Poppy’s newest journey, with Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake returning. Tickets here.

NeverNeverLand at the RSA

Calling all clubbers, you are invited to a night of sophisticated house and Nu-disco. The Brother Grinn, DJ Spinner, Coatesville collective and Rich Coles will be sure to keep you on your feet all night, while the RSA makes a handy venue for people who need to get home in time to relieve the babysitters. Tickets $20 ($10 before 8pm). Bar available.

The Kestrel

Indie-pop singer-songwriter Marianne Leigh returns with a mix of covers and originals tonight.

Classical music student Matthew Spooner will play upbeat pop from the 60s and 70s in his first performance on the wharf.

Tainui Tuesdays at Devonport Yacht Club 

If you’re in the mood for a set-list of classics ranging from Kiwi favourites to the likes of the Rolling Stones, Neil Young and the Pogues – plus a taster of French numbers – six-piece Tainui Tuesdays will be right up your alley. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Gallery Exhibitions

Photography exhibition by Mickey Smith. 

Conceptual artist and photographer, Mickey Smith presents a preview of large-scale works from her new series Domesticated, featuring images made in secondhand bookshop, Bookmark. Pieces from her Daily Reminder jewellery collection will also be on display.

The Depot Artspace

Two exhibitions:

Proof of Concept marks the halfway point in a two year journey for the 11 participants in HANDSHAKE 8, a professional development programme for contemporary jewellers. The exhibition is an invitation to see ideas, processes, materials still in development, and to help shape their future form.

Creating an Empty Space in Between showcases a combination of folk paintings and Chaekgeori, a historic Korean painting genre, by artist Ji Yeon Jeong, whose works seek to express the ways immigrants can enjoy all cultures in a multicultural society.
