Figurative Artists Collective Exhibition: Depot Artspace

The Depot’s biggest exhibition of the year, Between Us, brings together 28 artists working across figurative art and portraiture. Co-curated by local artist Karlalise Horstmans, it includes past finalists in the Adam Portraiture Award. Sculptures and a range of media on canvas and paper are featured. Read the story in the 22 May Flagstaff.

When: Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm.

Where: 28 Clarence St.

Happy Living Things: Satellite2

Opening weekend! Three local artists combine for this new exhibition that has animals in common. The works by Sandra Waine, David Bell and Louise Wigram feature prints, ink drawings and metal sculptures. Read the story in the 22 May Flagstaff.

When: Exhibition opening, Saturday, 12–3pm. Otherwise, Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–2pm.

Where: 61A Victoria Rd.

Material World: Depot 3 Vic Road

Artist Chris Melville is a visual trickster. His body of photographic works – some of which echo Devonport and the convergence of sea and sky – has been created by capturing images of layers of everyday fabrics. What appear at first glance to be mountains, tidal currents or mist drifting across water are, in fact, studies of material in motion. Read the story in the 24 April Flagstaff.

When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10am–4pm.

Where: 3 Victoria Rd.

Integration: Depot Lounge

Louise Mair’s exhibition, Integration, explores themes of belonging, transition and acceptance.  Each painting is built through a process of layering. Scraping back the paint reveals earlier marks or spaces in time.

When: Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm.

Where: 28 Clarence St.

Meet in May: The Rose Centre Art Spot

Each month, the Rose Centre Art Spot highlights the work of a different local artist. For May, the Belmont Art Group presents a watercolour exhibition. This group of art enthusiasts was formed in August last year. Read the story in the 8 May Flagstaff.

When: Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.

Where: 4 School Road, Belmont.
