Twelfth Night
A youth-driven remix of Shakespeare’s gender-bending comedy sees the 17th-century setting swapped for a modern beach resort. The 90-minute version of the play, shaped by its young cast, maintains all the classic tropes, dialogue and characters, with a few changes to keep it accessible to modern audiences. Belmont Primary School Fair
School fair fun continues this weekend at Belmont Primary School, with market and food stalls, petting zoo, games, inflatable obstacle courses, a raffle and more.

Round North Head Classic swim
This open-water tide-assisted community swim starts at the beach beside Windsor Reserve and ends around 2.5km later at Balmain Reserve, Cheltenham Beach. The Freedom Swimmer (nude) category is once again open to daredevils. Entry is $55 for seniors and $30 for those under 15 years. Tickets available here.

Book Launch at Devonport Library
Author Karen McMillan is at the library to launch her latest historical novel, Turbulent Threads, a passionate tale of freedom and love set in Victorian Dunedin.

Sunday Roller Discos

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum
See the new statue of Navy cat Minnie, who served on HMNZS Leander in World War II, and check out the museum’s extensive collection of photos, artefacts, medals and displays.

Nunuku’s Light
A new exhibition from Miriam Cameron, inspired by the story of pacifist Moriori chief Nunuku-whenua and Cameron’s trip to the Chatham Islands, features expressionist paintings that reflect the chief’s ideas, values and way of life. See latest Flagstaff for more.

Commemorating Tūhoe Prophet Rua Kenana: A Man for Our Times
This exhibition honours leader, faith healer and land rights activist Rua Kenana (1869–1937). It features a 20-metre-long 10-panel mural by Tony Johnston based on Kenana’s life. The work was completed in 1981 and hung in the Manukau City Council Chambers, but was put into storage when the council was among those merged into Auckland Council. It was recently located and is being exhibited with related works by other artists. The Depot Artspace
New Principles is a collection of contemporary furniture from emerging and established artists based in Auckland. The exhibition includes the work of six artists who present furniture not as accessories to a room, but as a highlight. In embracing the high level of craftsmanship that has been developed to create each piece, New Principles elevates furniture to objects of fine art.
