Yuri Naumov at The Rose Centre
For the first time, Yuri Naumov, one of the creators of ‘Russian Blues’, is performing in New Zealand. The New York City-based guitarist’s technique, employing 26 different tunings, pushes the boundaries of traditional blues. His compositions, whether in English or Russian, are said to transcend cultural boundaries. Tickets here.

Tinā (M) – Advance Screenings
A New Zealand film, which features choirs from North Shore schools, tells the story of a teacher in Christchurch who uses Samoan culture to help empower her students. Written and directed by Miki Magasiva, starring Anapela Polataivao and Antonia Robinson. Tickets and times here.

BAFTA Winner film screenings

Visceralism – Striking a Chord at Satellite2 Gallery
Poet, musician and artist Peter Bradburn’s paintings combine elements of abstraction and pictorialism. A single colour or form often inspires a work, and recurring motifs appear.

Studio D3: Momentum at the Depot Artspace

Beyond the Surface at the Depot Artspace
Kate Serebrianskaia uses layers of acrylic inks and paints with unprimed canvases to evoke connections to the depicted moment.

Esteemed historian and author of the Kāwai series, Dr Monty Soutar ONZM, discusses his trilogy of popular novels about pre-colonial Aotearoa.
