General Events
Devonport Midwinter Dip
Come and join fellow brave souls for this long-standing annual midwinter swim. Free soup for swimmers after emerging from the briny. Dress up in costume. All welcome, free of charge. Register on the day, or in advance here.
When: Sunday, assemble from 10.30am, in the water at 11am.

Community Planting Day: Jutland Reserve
Join Restoring Takarunga Hauraki for the second community tree-planting of the Matariki season. Explore Jutland Reserve, connect to the local environment and encourage more native wildlife to Hauraki. No previous planting experience is necessary. Enjoy soup and bread afterwards. All welcome. Genealogy workshop
Have you started researching your family history, but would like to know more? Stuck on a tricky question? Keen to find out what tools are available to help with your research? Auckland Libraries’ family history specialist Seonaid Harvey will lead an intermediate-level workshop, suitable for adults with some experience of researching their family history. Learn how to make great gifts, ornaments, home decor and more. The Devonport Star Trail
The Devonport Star Trail is live! Local schools have designed stars inspired by the nine Matariki stars, which have been hidden in shop windows on Victoria Rd. Grab an entry form from the library, hunt down all nine stars, and go in the draw to win a $300 voucher from a Devonport business of your choice. For ages 16 and under. Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. View albums from the museum’s extensive photographic collections from World War I onwards, as part of the What a Life exhibition on display in the Foyer Gallery.

My Garden My World: Satellite2

Star Artworks: The Rose Centre Art Spot
The Rose Centre Art Spot highlights the work of different local artists. This month, for Matariki, stars have been allocated to each of nine local schools. The students have created artworks that reflect the meaning and essence of their school’s star. Together these artworks form a unique constellation, celebrating stories, aspirations and identities of our local schools and communities.

Dim the Lights so I can see in the Dark: Depot 3 Vic Road
A solo exhibition by Hauraki-based artist Avi Clark. Through layered abstraction, these contemporary works explore what happens when we step back from the noise of the outside world, reflecting perception, stillness and the unseen.

Figurative Artists Collective Exhibition: Depot Artspace
The Depot’s biggest exhibition of the year, Between Us, brings together 28 artists working across figurative art and portraiture. Co-curated by local artist Karlalise Horstmans, it includes past finalists in the Adam Portraiture Award. Sculptures and a range of media on canvas and paper are featured. Trauma in the Bones: Depot Lounge
Devonport artist Manuahi presents an intimate collection of oil paintings and poetry, based on lived experience and giving form to stories often unseen or unspoken. Note: This exhibition includes references to mental health, suicide, and abuse as well as depictions of nudity.

North Shore Rugby Club
No home fixtures for the senior sides this weekend. In the final session of regular play, before the knock-out rounds begin, the premiers face Mahurangi, the premier reserves make the trip north to Silverdale and it’s the under-21s’ turn to take on Northcote. The under-85kg side has a bye.
North Shore United Football Club
In the Northern Region Football League, North Shore seniors and under-23s both have home matches against Mount Albert Ponsonby on Saturday. The table-topping First Team Women’s side has a home game on Sunday (1pm). Read about their success in the 5 June Flagstaff.
