Devonport Chamber Orchestra 

Mark Bennett conducts and Sam Brough is on bassoon for Vivaldi’s bassoon concertos in E minor and G major in the final DCO concert at Holy Trinity for 2023, which will also include a performance of Grieg’s Holberg Suite. Tickets $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students and free for under 12s.

Neil Simon’s Rumours

As guests arrive at the 10th wedding-anniversary party of the deputy mayor of New York, they aren’t welcomed with food and drink but a sticky scenario – the host has shot himself in the earlobe, the kitchen staff are nowhere to be found, and his wife is missing. As more guests arrive, more drama and laughs unfold. Tickets available here.

General Events

NZ Sculpture OnShore 

If you haven’t yet visited Fort Takapuna to experience the impressive selection of sculptures on show in this sprawling exhibition, this weekend provides your last chance to do so. A path through the wild grass leads to more than 115 works of huge variety. Visitors can also venture into the underground fort itself to see what local schools have crafted and head to the Officers Mess to take in an indoor gallery. General admission tickets are $25.

Swap Shop and Market

The Devonport Community House invited you to browse the stalls of the kids’ market where children will be selling goods and services. If you’ve already bought some clothes to the Community House to swap, it’s time to cash in those tokens on new garments for the little ones.

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum

Visit the Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay for a look into New Zealand’s maritime history. View the wartime artwork of Able Seaman Owen (Miles) Spence along with the many other informative exhibits.

Devonport Museum

Devonport Museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history. A great spot to learn more about one of Auckland’s earliest 19th-century European settlements and the place we call home.

Takapuna Grammar School cricket first XI

TGS hosts Westlake Boys High School, hoping to set back Westlake’s pursuit of Mt Albert Grammar at the top of the table.

Cold wax workshop with Janet Mazenier

Introduce yourself to the cold-wax medium with Janet Mazenier, who will teach you the basics of scratching and other techniques to make art out of wax. The workshop will suit anyone of any skill level who wants to develop their skills. It costs $240 including materials. Contact Janet on janetmazenier@gmail.com to register.

The Depot Artspace

Two exhibitions:

Proof of Concept marks the halfway point in a two year journey for the 11 participants in HANDSHAKE 8, a professional development programme for contemporary jewellers. The exhibition is an invitation to see ideas, processes, materials still in development, and to help shape their future form.

Creating an Empty Space in Between showcases a combination of folk paintings and Chaekgeori, a historic Korean painting genre, by artist Ji Yeon Jeong, whose works seek to express the ways immigrants can enjoy all cultures in a multicultural society.
