General Events
Stanley Bay Mud Run
Prepare to get muddy this Sunday at the Stanley Bay Mud Run. The annual fundraiser has a course running through the Ngataringa Bay Navy fields with fun and challenging obstacles for kids of all ages and adults including a slip-and-slide into a giant mud pit. Through the Decades Quiz Night
Get together an outfit from your favourite decade and gather five friends to head down to the RSA for a quiz night, hosted by St Leo’s Catholic School. Free nibbles and spot prizes, cash and eftpos bar, teams of six (adults only). Join a mixed team or make your own!

Devonport Primary School Quiz Night
Don your best pool attire for the pool party theme and test your knowledge. All funds raised will go towards the school’s pool resurfacing project. Get a team together or grab an individual ticket and join a team on the night. To book, email quizbookings.devonport@gmail.com

Belmont Baptist Church 75th Birthday Celebrations
The church is celebrating with speeches, music and nibbles on Saturday night, followed by a baptism service with sharing of stories, praise, thanksgiving and a morning tea on Sunday.

Noughty Wasters
Bring the kids to Resource Recovery Devonport to play and create with items otherwise destined for landfill. A free family session, suitable for all ages, but children under three years old will require close supervision. Bookings required here. (Parents/caregivers will need to stay with their children, with one adult required per three children.)

Teresa Frewen at Devonport Library
The travelling Kiwi midwife will share her incredible tale of being stuck in remote outback Australia, unable to get home during the Covid border restrictions.

Te Hau Kapu Rōpū performance
Devonport’s kapa haka group will be performing favourite waiata to celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori – Māori Language week.

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum
Visit the Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay to see its latest exhibition, Over Seas – Mā te Moana, a collection of objects brought home by Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) sailors during overseas deployments all around the world, including this painting (below) of HMNZS Endeavour in Antarctica, by Howard Mallitte. The 1964 painting shows HMNZS Endeavour (A184) and another ship among the sea ice of Antarctica. Between 1956 and 1971, the RNZN assisted with the transportation of supplies and equipment to Antarctica for various scientific and environmental programmes.

Devonport Museum
The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

Friday Night Open Mic
Come to Harmony Hall tonight to hear talented local singers and maybe give it a go yourself. Bring a plate and BYO.

Mel Parsons Live Show
Multi award-winning artist Mel Parsons performs her critically-acclaimed new album Sabotage, which peaked at No. 2 in the NZ Album Charts and includes the single ‘5432’, a crowd favourite in her live set. Co-written and produced by Josh Logan, Sabotage is Mel Parsons’ sixth studio album. Tickets here.

Transformers One (PG) Previews
The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, who once were friends bonded like brothers. The first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie features a star-studded voice cast including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry and Scarlett Johansson. Tickets and times here.

Sponge City at the Depot Artspace
Flooding at the Depot two weekends ago has added an extra element to this exhibition highlighting ways to reduce the adverse effects of climate change. Footage of water gushing down the gallery wall has been incorporated into the show by 10 exhibiting artists.
