Riding the Teacups… Devonport Fair on the Hill 2025
General Events
Fair on the Hill
Join in the fun at Devonport Primary’s annual fundraiser. One of Devonport’s favourite community days, enjoy great coffee, food, books, plants, toys and a live auction, plus entertainment, games and fair rides. Bring your friends and whānau. Every purchase supports the school’s students.

Junk Robotics
Join Noughty Wasters and Local Making for a series of three workshops where discarded electronics (e-waste) will be transformed into a working remote control robot. Suitable for ages 8–14, you’ll learn basic electronics as well as creative reuse and upcycling of e-waste, wood, and other materials. Participants must commit to all three sessions. Apply for your spot here.

Beginners Cyanotype with Celia Walker
An introduction to this simple photographic process that uses the power of the sun to create striking blue-toned images. Designed for adults, DEPOT classes support skill-building, experimentation and creative growth in a welcoming, hands-on setting. More information here.

Takarunga Night Walk
Join Restoring Takarunga Hauraki for a free evening hīkoi up Takarunga (Mt Victoria). A night of family-friendly activities, wildlife spotlighting, pūrākau (stories) and beautiful views. This free event has a 50-person limit. Reserve tickets here.

Acceptance: Course at Devonport Community House
This course invites you to move from feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges to discovering them as opportunities for growth. You will explore patient acceptance as a practical and powerful path to inner peace, learning how meditation helps cultivate a calm, resilient mind. Led by Kelsang Lachpa, a Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Auckland. Cost: $45 (unwaged $30). Book a space here.

Noughty Wasters Free Makerspace sessions
Check out the Noughty Wasters Zero Waste Makerspace and play and create with discarded items otherwise destined for landfill. Construct and de-construct using a variety of tools; explore our art supplies; or think big with large junk items in our outdoor creation space (weather allowing). Suitable for all ages, but small children will require close supervision and a responsible adult must remain on-site during the session. Cost: free. Book and find out more here.

Devonport Navy Museum
Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history. View albums from the museum’s extensive photographic collections from World War I onwards, as part of the What a Life exhibition on display in the Foyer Gallery.

Chris Priestley in Concert
Songs, stories and a slideshow from New Zealand’s past. Chris Priestley presents a musical portrait of the rogues, rebels, folk heroes and villains from days gone by. Journalist-turned-musician Cameron Bennett will join Chris, with some slide guitar, harmonies and a couple of his own songs. Free event but koha appreciated. Tickets can be reserved here or in-person at the library.

Live Show: Ash Grunwald with Special Guest Mark Crotti

Artist Holly Sanford is exploring a new creative path in her exhibition Revealed: Beyond the Glass Horizon. Eva at the Rose Centre Art Spot
Each month, the Rose Centre Art Spot highlights the work of a different local artist. During March, former Takapuna Grammar student Eva exhibits her still-life paintings of flowers, using gouache paint and pencil to explore colour, texture and detail.

North Shore Cricket Club
North Shore’s premier men made history last Saturday as the first team to win promotion back to Auckland Cricket’s top tier just one season after being relegated to the second division. Last weekend’s comprehensive victory over Kumeu made it six from six for the season for Shore and locked up the title with one game to spare. Read the story in the 13 March Flagstaff.
North Shore’s final home match on Saturday is against second-placed Eden Roskill. The premier women are also in action at Devonport Domain, taking on Parnell in the final round of the one-day Prichard Cup competition.
