Round North Head Classic Swim
This iconic, community-run event starts at Windsor Reserve beach. The 2.7km tide-assisted course sees participants swim around Maungauika, across Cheltenham beach and finish in front of Bath Street Reserve. Spot prizes and pie at the finish.

North Shore Rugby Club
The premier women’s side kicks off its season, playing Ponsonby at home this week. Their match is followed by the under-85kg men’s side.
The local-derby clash against Takapuna takes place away from home, at Onewa Domain, with the men’s reserves kicking off at 1pm and the men’s premiers at 2.45pm. See the match preview in the latest Flagstaff here.
The Under-21 men play East Coast Bays at Windsor Park, at 1pm.

North Shore United AFC
North Shore United plays Manukau United FC away this weekend in the fourth match of their Northern Championship season. North Shore drew 1-1 at home, against Hibiscus Coast last weekend.
Friendly Fridays at Stanley Bay Petanque Club
An opportunity for club members and guests to play petanque and enjoy a social catch-up with friends and the local community. All welcome.

Helping hands needed at Charles Reserve, Hauraki
The stream and surrounding wetlands along the inner estuary of Oneoneroa Shoal Bay are choked with pest plants. Restoring Takarunga Hauraki needs extra volunteers to help clear these, in preparation for native seedling planting. For more information, contact Lance: lance@rth.org.nz or 027 359 6722.

Lampshade-making at Devonport Community House

Torpedo Bay Navy Museum
Visit the Torpedo Bay Navy Museum for a look into New Zealand’s naval history.

Devonport Museum
The museum has many fascinating displays showing local natural, geological and human history, along with memorabilia relating to schools, transport, early settlers and families, and a collection of historical photographs.

A Stunning Night of Music and Opera at DEPOT Artspace
Award-winning opera singer Olivia Forbes will be accompanied on piano by Claire Caldwell. They will be performing a selection of stunning arias, Lieder, art song and musical theatre favourites including works by Mozart, Puccini, Strauss, Debussy and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Out of Order at the Rose Centre

Two great children’s movies and the chance to win free popcorn
Dog Man (G). A faithful police dog and his human police officer are injured together on the job, but with a life-saving surgery they are fused together and Dog Man is born – sworn to protect and serve — and fetch, sit and roll over. An animated film, based on the children’s graphic novel series.
A Minecraft Movie (PG). Four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland thriving on imagination. To get home, they’ll have to master a magical quest.

Rediscovered Landscapes opens at Satellite2 gallery
Longtime local Chris Bradley’s first solo exhibition, Rediscovered Landscapes, comprises around 30 works, inspired by a love of the outdoors and scenes from his own neighbourhood, as well as a fascination of landforms seen from above.

Neural Bloom at DEPOT 3 Vic Road

Self-Care for Aliens at DEPOT Artspace
Natasha Munro Hurn and Ezra Munro’s exhibition involves fantastical self-portraits made from digital collages. Various experimental screen prints utilise makeup in an exhibition reflecting “the radical queer spirit finding a home in an organic vessel”.

Rose Centre Art Spot
The pieces on display this month are from Steve Bolton’s Tree Portrait series, all oil on board. Bolton is a Devonport-based painter, cartoonist, illustrator, printmaker, muralist and teacher.
