Anzac Events
Anzac Day Parade and Service
Join your community to honour those who served. The parade marches from 1 Fleet St at 10.45am, making its way down Victoria Rd to the Devonport Cenotaph (Memorial of the Untidy Soldier) for the Anzac service. Local road closures will be in place 10.30am–12pm. Light refreshments in Devonport RSA on completion of service.
When: Saturday. Parade assembly at 10.30am, march starts at 10.45am, service at 11am.
Where: Corner of Victoria Rd and Windsor Reserve (service).
Anzac Day at the Navy Museum
Bring the family and join the Navy Museum to commemorate Anzac Day. Poppy-making 10am–3pm. Completed poppies can be planted in the remembrance space, or taken home. RNZN Pipes and Drums will perform a short concert outside the museum, beginning at 12.30pm.
When: Saturday, from 10am.

North Shore Rugby Club: Anzac Day at Home
In a full round of senior matches at home, all North Shore teams will take the field in special Anzac jerseys, co-designed with the Royal New Zealand Navy. The premiers, premier reserves and under-85kg sides all take on Kumeu; the under-21s will face off against Silverdale.
When: Saturday. Premier reserves and under-21s at 1.05pm, premiers and under-85kg at 2.45pm.

Anzac Memories: The Rose Singers
Bring the whānau and commemorate Anzac Day with The Rose Singers through a special concert of wartime favourites. No charge, donations gratefully accepted. BYO drinks. Email ruth.chapman216@gmail.com to book a seat or request more information.

Sgt. Haane: Anzac Weekend Advance Screenings
A moving retelling of heroism and bravery, this documentary-drama follows Lance Sgt. Haane Manahi DCM (Te Arawa, Ngāti Raukawa) of B Company, 28th Māori Battalion, a soldier of extraordinary courage, whose actions proved pivotal in the 1943 battle for the fortified summit of Takrouna, Tunisia. He was put forward for the Victoria Cross (VC), but was instead given a Distinguished Conduct Medal, leading to a long-standing campaign to amend the injustice.

Folk Music at The Bunker

Hunt for the Wilderpeople: 10th Anniversary Screenings
Two rebels. One million hectares of untamed wilderness. The hunt is on. A story about a defiant city kid who finds himself on the run in the bush with his cantankerous foster uncle. Based on the Barry Crump book Wild Pork and Watercress, it’s The Vic’s best-attended movie of the last 10 years.

Fearsome Beauty: Satellite2
Final weekend! The kahu (harrier hawk) is front and centre of this exhibition by Derek March. With its tearing beak and deadly grappling clawed feet, it is depicted as an embodiment of nature’s dark energy as well as her raw beauty.

Common Matter: Depot Artspace
Artist Amanda Mackenzie presents a study of the humble egg tray — made for function from waste, endlessly recycled, the epitome of sustainability. Community contributions (of around 3500 egg trays) form the foundation of structures that are stacked, clustered and reconfigured. Read the story in the 10 April Flagstaff.

Inkpressions: Depot Lounge
Final weekend! Inkpressions, an exhibition by Argentina-born artist Ana Ferrari, grew from a place of play, experimentation and improvisation with relief printing. The works explore texture, colour and organic form through curiosity and the simple joy of making.

Verity Kindleysides at Depot 3 Vic Road
Final weekend! Verity Kindleysides’ exhibition, Inside the Garden & Beyond (after Pat Hanly), explores the three-maunga Devonport peninsula, linked by jewel-like gardens. It’s a reinterpretation and homage to Pat Hanly’s early-1970s Inside the Garden series.

Maker of the Month: Depot 3 Vic Road
Sally Tagg is a multidisciplinary visual artist, whose practice spans sculpture, ceramics, photography and botanically inspired publishing. Working from her Devonport home studio, she is currently exploring ceramic sculptural works, experimenting with the combination of clay and glass.

Katie Robinson at The Rose Centre Art Spot
Each month, the Rose Centre Art Spot highlights the work of a different local artist. Katie Robinson’s artistic influences are shaped by her background in the natural sciences and her interest in light, landscape and colour (the emotional anchor of her work, which she uses to spotlight her subject matter).

North Shore senior and under-23 sides both have home matches against Ellerslie on Saturday. Last weekend, Shore had a 2-0 away win over West Coast Rangers, putting them second-equal (with Takapuna) on the table.

New Zealand String Quartet at Depot 3 Vic Road
The New Zealand String Quartet will perform a varied programme that explores how composers transform feelings and stories into sound. The winners of Depot’s 2025 emerging-songwriters competition will also feature. During the evening, guests will be able to view the latest exhibition and explore the artist studio spaces upstairs.
