General Events
Balloon Launch
Devonport Heritage will be launching five giant helium balloons. The purpose is to represent 27 metres vertically (the eight-storey height of some of Peninsula Capital’s proposed new buildings). Read the story in the 31 July Flagstaff.
When: Sunday from 9.30am.
Where: A crowd is expected to gather outside Devonport Library, 2 Victoria Rd. The balloons will be launched in lower Victoria Rd and Wynyard St.
Matariki Storytime at Devonport Library
The third storytime in the Matariki series features Matua Tameana (with guitar), who will be reading a beautiful starry story. After which, enjoy some songs, fun and games, and tea and kai together. Bring the whole whānau. All ages and cultures are welcome.

Frybread Parāoa Parai: Devonport Library
Come along and learn to make parāroa parai. A delicious treat! Ingredients supplied, but bring a container to take your dough home to cook. Suitable for ages over 10.

Tapestry Weaving with Kimono Silks: Workshop

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Get dressed up, learn the dances and enjoy the most immersive theatrical experience Auckland has to offer. This cult classic is performed live on stage, while the movie plays behind on screen. The ticket price includes a prop kit that you will need for full participation!

Stories About My Body (M). A stand-up comedy show that has been transformed for the big screen, Morgana O’Reilly (The White Lotus) tells the stories that shaped her, from her own teenagehood in 1998, to working at foot-fetish parties in New York City. This film is a celebration of messy, magnificent womanhood.

Seussical Kids is Glass Ceiling Art Collective’s annual musical-theatre production. It’s a fun-filled musical adventure inspired by the stories of Dr. Seuss. The Infinity Series – Xeduce: Exhibition Opening
Drawing inspiration from baroque and rococo art and architecture, Renaissance-inspired opulence combines with futuristic design in this exhibition of wearable art.

Puanga-Matariki Group Exhibition: Te Waka o Rangi
This exhibition explores the rich kōrero shared across the Pacific about our celestial whānau and the many ways different cultures understand these stars. By looking to Puanga, Matariki, and the wider cosmos, we are reminded of our deep relationship with the natural world.

Graham Downs and Sophie Clark: Two exhibitions at Satellite2
River Spirit. This series of works by local artist Graham Downs depicts water and rivers, using a cubist perspective to capture the feeling of watching a river.
Listen and Feel. Sophie Clark’s works reflect the energy and essence of Piha, on Auckland’s west coast. Waterfalls, native birds and trees, and the ocean are brought inside, to demonstrate the importance of our city’s environment.

North Shore United Football Club
North Shore seniors and under-23s are both playing Ellerslie, away from home on Saturday, in the Northern Region Football League competition. On Sunday, the First Team Women also take on Ellerslie, the top-placed team in Division 1. Other local action, from North Shore men’s teams in the community football leagues, takes place on Saturday.
Men’s divisions: Saturday, 3pm, Bayswater Park.
Women’s divisions: Sunday, 3pm, Allen Hill Stadium.
North Shore Rugby Club
