Five-storey building removed from Summerset village plan

Consent sought… Summerset has revealed confirmed plans for a 272-unit village in Belmont

Retirement village company Summerset has dropped plans for a five-storey apartment building in its proposed Belmont development on a 5.7ha site off Eversleigh Rd.
In a resource consent application for a 272-unit village lodged last week, the proposed five-storey building outlined at consultation sessions this year has been replaced with terrace-type three-storey units.
The proposed village masterplan includes:

• 194 “low density” two- to three-bedroom units and townhouses.
• Seven apartments and three penthouses in the main building.
• 69 “memory-care” and care apartments in the main building.
  Summerset says, “Subject to consents and the like, our programme remains on-track to start on site in October 2027 (with site wide earthworks).”
  Staged construction will start at the site’s southwestern corner and progress clockwise. “We will progressively complete the village, anticipating that we will be welcoming our inaugural residents in late 2029,” a spokesperson said. “Prior to the village works starting, the Lowe St pathway (creating an improved connection to Northboro Reserve) will commence shortly.”
