Eyes on the summit

Onward and upward for faithful on climb to Takarunga summit in traditional Good Friday Procession of Witness

Cross purposes… Participants in the Easter Friday Procession of Witness, led by Chief Petty Officer Mark Sawyer, resisted the temptations of Victoria Rd on their way to Takarunga’s summit.

More than 150 people took part in the Good Friday Procession of Witness up Takarunga, many on foot after gathering at the band rotunda on Windsor Reserve, others riding in the Devonport Community House van and other vehicles, before joining in singing and prayer at the summit. Some participants took a turn carrying the cross (above).
